Beginning 2021, all taxpayers received an informational truth in taxation postcard from the Appraisal District. This postcard will direct you to a website (morris.countytaxrates.com) to explore and educate yourself on the Proposed Rates to be adopted by the local taxing jurisdictions. This card will be mailed annually the beginning of August.

Our mission is to provide accurate property assessments to facilitate the local funding for our county, schools, cities, and other districts that derive budgets and other operating expenses from local property values.
Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Morris County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).
Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.
Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities. Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Henderson, Texas. Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.
