STATEMENTS & SURVEY LETTER

Our office will be closing @ Noon Wednesday, December 11th for training.  We will resume regular business hours Thursday, December 12th.  Thank you.  

TAX STATEMENTS WILL BE MAILED TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2024.  If you are Over 65 or Disabled and would like to take advantage of Quarterly Payments, please call our office to get this set up.   Please remember you must sign up each year before February 01.  Please let us know if you have any questions.  Thank you.  

HOMESTEAD SURVEY LETTER DUE 10/01/2024 & HOMESTEAD APPLICATION DUE 12/01/2024 

All Daingerfield Lone Star ISD Residence Homestead taxpayers were mailed a HOMESTEAD SURVEY for completion on August 1, 2024.  Please understand this process is a requirement in order to keep our records as efficient as possible for our local jurisdictions.  You may bring your completed survey to our office, mail it in the return envelope, fax @ (903) 645-2694 or email to sgolden@morriscad.com

Failure to return this form promptly (within 60 days, OCTOBER 1, 2024) in the return envelope provided will result in the removal of your Homestead Exemption and this action will cause an INCREASE IN YOUR TAXES.

HOMESTEAD APPLICATION WILL BE MAILED TO ALL ACCOUNTS THAT DID NOT REPLY TO THE HOMESTEAD SURVEY LETTER.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RETURNED ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 1, 2024 IN THE RETURN ENVELOPE PROVIDED.  FAILURE TO RETURN THIS APPLICATION WITH SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION WILL RESULT IN THE REMOVAL OF YOUR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION AND THIS ACTION WILL CAUSE AN INCREASE IN YOUR TAXES

Our Mission

To courteously and professionally serve the taxing units of Morris County by providing equal and uniform appraisals of all properties whereby efficient assessment and collections services will be performed on behalf of participating taxing units in compliance with the statutes of the Texas Property Tax Code.

Welcome to Morris County Appraisal District!

Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Morris County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).

 OFFICE HOURS ARE MONDAY – FRIDAY, 8 AM TO 4:30 PM,
CLOSED FOR LUNCH FROM 12 – 1:00 PM.

Due to the increased postage cost, our office will no longer mail receipts.
All receipts can be found on the website or we will gladly email/ fax them to you.  Thank you for understanding.

Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.

  • Morris County
  • Daingerfield – Lone Star Independent School District
  • Hughes Springs Independent School District, Morris Portion
  • Pewitt Consolidated Independent School District
  • City of Daingerfield
  • City of Lone Star
  • City of Naples
  • City of Omaha
  • Northeast Texas Community College District

Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities. 

Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Tyler, Texas.

Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.
