2023 Appraisal Value Notices were mailed Friday, April 28, 2023. Please understand the MARKET VALUE each year is as of January 1. 2022 market values are a residual of 2021 sales, 2023 market values are a residual of 2022 sales. While the volume of sales has decreased over the past few quarters, prices continue to rise. The estimate on the Notice is an ESTIMATE based on prior year rates. Our office encourages you to call or come in to talk with an Appraiser about your value before protesting. This informal process will ensure you have all exemptions for which you qualify or tell us of changes we aren’t aware of. The last day to protest will be Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
Due to the increased postage cost, our office will no longer mail receipts. All receipts can be found on the website or we will gladly email/ fax them to you. Thank you for understanding.

Beginning 2021, all taxpayers received an informational truth in taxation postcard from the Appraisal District. This postcard will direct you to a website (morris.countytaxrates.com) to explore and educate yourself on the Proposed Rates to be adopted by the local taxing jurisdictions. This card will be mailed annually the beginning of August.

Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Morris County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).
Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.

Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities. Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Henderson, Texas. Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.
